Investing in Yourself is the Best Investment

“The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself. The more you learn, the more you’ll earn.” – Warren Buffett

It is not uncommon to see people rushing around day-by-day with the sole incentive to make money. With entrepreneurship on the rise, however, a focus on personal growth is becoming the norm. There is no mistruth to the claim made by Mr. Buffett. The greatest currency is in fact a consistent investment in yourself. Both personal and professional achievement must be a priority in order to live a high-quality life packed with success, productivity and true happiness.

There are a variety of ways in which you can invest in yourself. The three focuses of this post will be meditation, activities that bring you joy, wellness and education. Each one of these forms of self-care will help to release stress and gather the energy necessary to excel at your professional endeavours.

The first way you can invest in yourself is through meditation. A consistent effort to meditate can allow you to relax your mind and improve your overall health. The benefits of meditation include reduced stress, slowed aging, emotional stability, improved health, better sleep and overall happiness. Before meditation, prepare yourself mentally for the act. You will need to focus all of your attention on meditation. One way that you can do this is by focusing on an object. In addition, make sure that you are in a quiet and calm environment. You can practice meditation in any position, but you should not be in a space that is distracting. Turn all cell phones and technology off or simply leave them out of the room.

Another way that you can invest in yourself is by participating in activities that bring you joy. This could be reading, writing, painting, walking in nature or playing with your dog. If your profession demands the logical part of your brain, you can create balance by connecting with your creative side. Anything is sufficient as long as you feel rejuvenated afterwards. This will allow you to bring your focus elsewhere and recharge, particularly after a long week at work. The reason that so many people experience burnout is due to neglecting their own needs.

What better way to invest in yourself than to invest in wellness? Investing into your physical health has inevitable mental health impacts and vice versa. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. For example, attending therapy sessions can help you to relax your brain and body and release stress simultaneously. By obtaining the emotional help you need, your immune system will strengthen due to the reduced impacts of stress. As a result, you will have much more to contribute to various areas of your life whether it be work, family or social life.

Last but not least, taking the time to learn something new an hour each day is an invaluable asset to both your personal and professional growth. It does not matter whether you learn through Youtube videos, reading books or speaking with professionals. Knowledge is power and will give you the competitive edge that is needed to dominate your personal life and your craft. There are 24 hours in a day. Don’t make time the excuse!

You are your most valuable asset. Don’t slack on self-care. By investing into the four areas mentioned, you will undoubtedly discover yourself transcending limitations and achieving your targets in no time.
